Harry Potter Holidays

Dayton's and Marshall Field's, two of the chains in the department store division of Target Corp., will present Harry Potter themes this holiday season, based on J.K. Rowling's “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone.”

Dayton's Minneapolis downtown flagship store will feature an auditorium exhibit, open to the public beginning November 4. The 10,000-square-foot display will offer more than 45 scenes from the popular book, the most in the auditorium's 38 years of holiday presentation. For its 80th year, Marshall Field's State Street flagship store will light its three-story “Great Tree,” decorated with 1000 hand-carved and painted ornaments, including Hedwig the owl, the Mirror of Esired and Harry Potter's Nimbus Two Thousand broomstick. A six-foot Hedwig will top the tree, which will be lighted on November 4. And Marshall Field's 11 State Street windows will tell Harry Potter's tale, including scenes like Harry's arrival at Hogwarts, the Mirror of Esired and the Christmas feast.
