Maverik (Salt Lake City) has started work on its first locale in Montana, the convenience retailer’s 13th state of operation, C-Store Dive reports.
The 5900-square-foot store us being built in Helena and is expected to open in the first quarter of 2024, a spokesperson told the online news service.
Maverik’s move into Montana is part of the retailer’s rapid growth in the Midwest and Rocky Mountain regions, and comes on the heels of its agreement to acquire Kum & Go’s 400-plus store network in April.
According to Helena city records, Maverik is spending just under $5 million to build the store, which is near Interstate 15. Once finished, it will be one of Maverik’s largest sites in its network, with most of its other locations spanning between 3300 and 5900 square feet, the spokesperson noted.
“Maverik is always looking to enter and consider expanding in areas where customers have unmet needs for fueling, great food, and adventure,” the spokesperson said.
The complex’s forecourt will feature 15 fuel pumps, according to The Helena Independent Record. Inside the store, Maverik’s signature BonFire food items will be on offer, including burritos, sandwiches, pizzas, salads and more, which are made fresh in every store. The store will also feature Maverik’s new bean-to-cup coffee program, featuring various blends and fresh-made pastries.
In addition to the recently acquired Kum & Go stores, Maverik operates more than 400 c-stores under its own brand in Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, New Mexico, Nebraska, Nevada, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Washington and Wyoming.
