Hertz Redesigning its Rental Offices

The Hertz Corp. (Park Ridge, N.J.) is in the process of revamping several hundred of its 8800 worldwide locations, to make them more user-friendly.

The redesign began last summer, and more than a dozen locations have already been completed, including airport locations in Los Angeles and Newark and  Liberty International airports, and a streetfront location near London’s Marble Arch. The majority are expected to be finished this year.

The branch interiors will have an area for charging electronics with iPads that can be used for free on the premises; self-service as well as traditional staffed kiosks; a FedEx area; and a retail shop selling food, drinks and local items (like beach towels in San Diego).

Instead of waiting in line, customers are given buzzers that activate when an agent is free to help them.
