High Design Goes High Tech with the Formica Envisualizer™ Design Platform

Formica Corporation’s engagement with designers is moving beyond products and into the world of cutting-edge online technology with the Formica Envisualizer™ design platform, the A&D community’s latest – and the surfacing industry’s first – design resource for inspiration and creative expression.

“Formica Envisualizer™ is the natural evolution of our design leadership,” said Amy Gath, vice president of marketing for Formica Corporation. “Although we created the Formica Envisualizer™ design platform, we want designers to embrace it as their own and determine its future as a creativity platform, inspiration showcase and community hub.”

Now in beta, the Formica Envisualizer™ design platform enables designers to explore the limitless possibilities of algorithmic pattern generation. Users can upload their own image or design something completely unexpected by scaling, distorting and randomizing shapes or drawing with kinetic brushes … even creating interactive, editable kaleidoscopes. Color palettes can be customized using CMYK, RGB or HEX codes. The results are truly original, complex and captivating works of art that can be shared in a public gallery or downloaded as a vector image for further refinement.

Formica Corporation currently is collaborating with the A&D community on the features and functionality to include in the next evolution of the Formica Envisualizer™ design platform. “While design-forward products and patterns will always be central to our brand, we believe it is equally important to develop new resources that inspire the design process and empower the creation of truly customized surfaces,” Gath added.

Any pattern created using the Formica Envisualizer™ design platform is directly transferrable to Formica Envision™ custom laminate. Introduced in late summer 2013, Formica Envision™ capitalizes on laminate’s limitless design potential by allowing designers to turn their high-resolution images into custom wall panels, doors, countertops and more. By pairing both products, designers can take their work from concept to completion.
