H&M Hennes & Mauritz (Stockholm), the fast-growing Swedish apparel retailer that has embodied “cheap chic,” announced today that September sales in September were up 34 percent from a year earlier. The company acknowledged that much of the growth was powered by new stores. The company is opening 100 stores per year, including locations in new markets in Spain and the U.S. H&M operates more than 680 stores in 14 countries.
