Hennes & Mauritz (H&M, Stockholm, Sweden) will open the doors on its first store in Singapore in the fall of next year. The 32,291-square-foot boutique will be located on Orchard Road, a key shopping district of the city.

“We look forward to opening our first store in South East Asia. There is great potential for expansion in this highly populated and fashion conscious region,” says ceo Karl-Johan Persson, according to Women's Wear Daily.

The fast-fashion retailer’s expansion plans also include its first store in the southern Japanese city Fukuoka by the end of 2011. H&M operates 10 stores in Japan, including Tokyo, Yokohama and Osaka.
