HMG Files for Bankruptcy

HMG Worldwide Corp. (New York), the strategic in-store marketing consultant, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.

The company, which began in 1973 as the Howard Marlboro Group, had worked with leading retailers and brand vendors. One of its first ventures was creating the l'eggs kiosks for Hanes. It also produced shelf-management systems for Clairol and Walgreens vitamins; interactive kiosks for Microsoft, RadioShack and Sega Dreamcast; a snack center for Coca-Cola; countertop displayers for Chanel and Christian Dior; shelving displays and promotional units for Thom McAn shoes, Kmart and Keebler cookies; plus a great many other projects.

The company was owned by Saatchi & Saatchi from 1986 to 1993.
