From Macy’s abstract world, dubbed Steampunk (imagine 19th Century styling meets sci-fi steam-powered technology) to the quirkiness of Lady Gaga's invasion at Barney's New York, retailers unveiled some stunning windows for 2011 that come to life with original music, 3-D screens, moving parts and mannequins dressed to the nines.

Bergdorf Goodman shows off an undersea fantasy encrusted with hand-cut mosaic tile. Saks Fifth Avenue transports onlookers to “The Land of the Bubble Makers” using running water and dramatic mood lighting that mirrors a 3-D projection.

If you're not able to make it to the Big Apple to experience this most magical time of the year in window design, don't fret. Brooklyn, N.Y.-based photographer Richard Cadan brings his annual holiday window card to life with a click of a mouse. Click here to view the card.
