adidas USA (Portland, Ore.), the sporting goods manufacturer and retailer that dropped its relationship with one pro basketball luminary earlier this summer, has added what it hopes will be a future pro star.

The company has signed an endorsement agreement with Mike Dunleavy, a Duke University All-American who was the third overall pick (by the Golden State Warriors) in the recent National Basketball Association player draft.

In June, adidas chose not to renew its endorsement agreement with Kobe Bryant of the Los Angeles Lakers.

“The future of basketball is defined by talented young players like Mike Dunleavy,” said Michael Riehl, adidas'head of global sports marketing.
