IKEA (Leiden, Netherlands) replicated an actual Syrian home inside its flagship store in Norway. The project was part of a fundraising campaign through the Red Cross (Washington, D.C.) to aid refugees.
The retailer converted one of its showrooms for the project into the 75-square-foot cinder block dwelling that replicates a real home located in Damascus, Syria. The project also included footage from Syria to bring to attention the people’s needs for clean water, food and medicine, reports brandchannel.
“Placing a Syrian home next to all the Scandinavian homes was obviously a brave move from the warehouse,” said Snorre Martinsen, who was art director over the project, “but it made it clearer than any TV commercial how crucial it is to donate and help.”
