India-Based Jewelry Brand Opens U.S. Store

Tanishq, an India-based jewelry brand, has opened its first store in the United States. The 3750-square-foot, two-story showroom in Iselin, N.J., offers gold and diamond jewelry, as well as solitaires and colored stones.

The brand says the store aims to meet the evolving needs of Indian Americans, who comprise 4.35 percent of New Jersey’s total population and are 387,000 strong. Tanishq has been in the U.S. market through e-commerce for over a year.

In addition, the new store is part of Tanishq’s overall expansion strategy.

“We are on a mission to establish Tanishq as a global brand, and our retail showroom expansion in the United States is a significant step in that direction. Tanishq has been balancing the elegance of tradition with the brilliance of modernity for decades and we want to bring it to New Jersey,” said C K Venkataraman, Managing Director at Titan Co. Ltd. (Bengaluru, India) a unit of the Tanishq’s parent company, Tata.

The company launched its first international brick-and-mortar store in Dubai in late 2020. It now has seven stores in the United Arab Emirates (U.A.E.) and intends to open 20-30 stores in North America and the Middle East over the next two to three years.

In its home country, Tanishq has 400-plus stores across 240 cities and plans to add at least 100 more stores there in the coming year.
