Indianapolis Gets Saks

Saks Inc., the Birmingham, Ala.-based retailer, plans to open a 120,000-square-foot Saks Fifth Avenue store in the Fashion Mall at Keystone in Indianapolis.

The new Saks Fifth Avenue store will occupy the former Jacobson's location. The company will renovate the store before its scheduled fall 2003 grand opening. Saks also operates the other anchor store in the mall, a 128,000-square-foot Parisian location.

“We are very excited about our first Saks Fifth Avenue store in the state of Indiana,” says Christina Johnson, president and ceo of Saks Fifth Avenue. “We have been interested in opening a store in Indianapolis for quite some time, and the Jacobson's location represents the perfect opportunity.”

The Saks Fifth Avenue store will offer exclusive designer ready-to-wear for women, fine jewelry, shoes, accessories, cosmetics, fragrances and Saks Fifth Avenue's collections. The store will also offer men's designer clothing, sportswear, formalwear and furnishings.

Saks Inc. operates Saks Fifth Avenue Enterprises, which consists of 61 Saks Fifth Avenue stores and 52 Saks Off 5th stores. The company also operates its Saks Department Store Group with 244 department stores under the names of Parisian, Proffitt's, McRae's, Younkers, Herberger's, Carson Pirie Scott, Bergner's and Boston Store.
