Insomnia Cookies (Philadelphia), a unit of Krispy Kreme that sells warm cookies all day and late into the night, is expanding outside the U.S. for the first time, with stores in Canada and the U.K. set for this summer. In addition, the late-night bakery chain says it expects to open dozens of new U.S. stores this year. (It did not detail a more specific number, nor any locations for the planned units.)
Insomnia’s first oversees stores will be in suburban Toronto and Manchester, U.K. Insomnia plans to continue its rapid expansion in the U.S, where it currently operates 230-plus units, with any eye toward making its goods available to 95 percent of U.S. households.
“From a college start-up, we’ve come a long way over the last 20 years, and this year’s national and international new stores openings are just a taste of what’s to come for Insomnia Cookies,” Seth Berkowitz, Founder and CEO of Insomnia Cookies said in a news release. “Insomnia is so grateful to our loyal Insomniacs, whose passion for our brand has fueled our growth.
