Is a Gap/Intermix Deal in the Works?

Specialty store operator Intermix (New York) and Gap Inc. are currently in discussions to explore partnership opportunities, Women’s Wear Daily reports. Intermix recently hired investment banking firm The Sage Group to explore options on how to fund its expansion plan. Both organizations confirmed with WWD that they are in discussions but didn’t comment further.

Intermix focuses on contemporary apparel and accessories in its lifestyle stores, which house a host of brands from Willow and Stella McCartney to Rachel Zoe and Rag & Bone. San Francisco-based Gap operates hundreds of stores under the Gap, Old Navy, Banana Republic, Piperlime and Athleta nameplates.
