Jarden Corp. Buys Yankee Candle

Jarden Corp. (Rye, N.Y.) has acquired the Yankee Candle Co. (South Deerfield, Mass.) for $1.75 million.

The deal was reportedly financed from a fund managed by private equity firm Madison Dearborn Partners LLC (Chicago).

Through various acquisitions over the last eight years, Jarden owns a variety of consumer household brands, including Mr. Coffee, Coleman camping equipment, Health o Meter, Oster and Crock Pot.

Yankee Candle is the largest manufacturer of scented candles in the U.S. and operates more than 550 retail locations.
