JCPenney Promotes Val Harris

JCPenney (Plano, Texas) has rearranged its executive team in the wake of the announcement that Ken Mangone, executive vp of product development design and sourcing, will be retiring, effective April 1. Mangone worked for the company for 39 years.

Val Harris, former vp of product development design and sourcing, will be promoted to replace him. She will oversee the company’s entire team of textile, technical and fashion designers (more than 200 in total) who develop the merchandise for JCPenney’s private collections each season. She will report to John Tighe, executive vp and chief merchant.

Additionally, Mike Robbins, senior vp over the company’s supply chain will now oversee the company’s sourcing organization. That includes a network of international buying offices, quality control functions and social compliance teams, among other functions, reports a press release.
