JCPenney Makes Corporate Sustainability Lists…and More

Victor Group (Quebec, Canada), a textile company, has hired Charles Adams as chief sales officer in charge of its residential, contract and apparel and specialty sales divisions.

Dauphin North America (Boonton, N.J.), an office seating manufacturer, has hired Lynda Portelli as its manager of marketing.

STORE OPENINGS

Nordstrom (Seattle, Wash.), a fashion specialty retailer, announced plans to open a Nordstrom Rack store in Pentagon City (Arlington, Va.) in fall 2010.

True Religion Apparel Inc. (Vernon, Calif.), a jeans and jean-related sportswear retailer, has opened a store in Scottsdale, Ariz.

California Pizza Kitchen (Los Angeles), a casual dining chain, has opened a restaurant in Cancun, Mexico, its seventh locale in that country.

AT&T (Dallas), a communications holding company, relocated its store in Freehold, N.J., to a larger space in the Freehold Raceway Plaza Mall.

BUSINESS BRIEFS

2Hemispheres (Portland, Ore.), a retail design consulting firm, announced it played a strategic role in creating the design and merchandising plan for Columbia Sportswear Co.’s new and future branded stores. Columbia has opened such stores in the U.S. and Europe in the past year, and plans to open three more in those markets in coming months.

HELPING OUT

Dauphin North America (Boonton, N.J.), an office seating manufacturer, is contributing to breast cancer awareness with its limited edition Conte chairs. A percentage of sales will be donated to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

AWARDS

JCPenney Co. Inc. (Plano, Texas) has been named to the 2009 Dow Jones Sustainability Index and ranked 44th in Newsweek magazine’s 500 “Greenest Big Companies in America” for corporate sustainability.

Chrysalis HD (Costa Mesa, Calif.) announced its architectural resin panels have been recognized as a Top 50 architectural product for the past 12 months by Architectural Products magazine.

Chute Gerdeman Retail (Columbus, Ohio), a retail branding and design firm, announced it has been ranked on Inc. magazine’s Inc. 5000 and Interior Design magazine’s Second-100 Design Giants.
