French leather retailer Jitrois (Paris), which operates seven stores in Europe and Asia and one in Aspen, Colo. will open its first New York store in February. The company is calling the venture, a partnership with Dallas entrepreneur Jodi Shelton, an entry point for the American market. Jitrois is also preparing to open a flagship in Shanghai, according to Women’s Wear Daily.
Known for sexy, detailed leather outerwear and clothing, the privately held Jitrois is headed by designer Jean-Claude Jitrois and chairman and chief executive officer Gilbert Maria. The Madison Avenue space will feature a futuristic design similar to other Jitrois stores. Most notably, a signature curved, lit wall of vertical acrylic tubes will face a mirrored wall that reflects pale gold ceiling tiles and a white tile floor.
Shelton is the founder of Global Semiconductor Alliance (Dallas) as well as the Shelton Group and holds the license for the Madison Avenue Jitrois.
