Life is Good (Boston) which calls itself “the original positive lifestyle brand,” will open its first store in California on Nov. 12, in the beachfront community of La Jolla. Designers made extra efforts to embrace SoCal vibes when designing the 1600-square-foot space, most notably murals hand-painted by San Diego’s Pandr Design Co.
“When we thought about opening a new storefront, Girard Ave. in La Jolla felt like the perfect home for Life is Good,” Tom Hassell, President of The Life is Good Company said in a news release. “This new location and collection of custom La Jolla T-shirts blend our optimistic energy and love for the outdoors with the laid-back nature of the California coast.”
The company was started by brothers Bert and John Jacobs in 1994 with T-shirts bearing their three-word slogan and a stick figure named Jake. Today, it has more than 40 Life is Good Shops in the U.S. and Canada that “are independently owned and operated by carefully selected fellow optimists,” the company says.
