Strategic brand consulting and design firm Landor Associates (Cincinnati) named Philip VanDusen executive creative director of its Cincinnati office. VanDusen brings more than 20 years of experience to his new post, including brand strategy, graphic design and product development.

Chicago-based design firm Starr Design Associates Inc. received a distinguished Bronze Standing Award in the retail showroom category for its experiential interior design of Consolidated Gypsum’s Edmonton South Showroom. The award was presented by the Interior Designers of Alberta (IDA) at the Urban Encounters trade show in Alberta, Canada.
Design firm and fixture manufacturer nParallel (Plymouth, Minn.) has been selected by outdoor footwear brand Keen Inc. (Portland, Ore.) to design, fabricate and distribute a new floor fixture to display Keen Utility footwear.
Marvin Gelman, founder of Lighting Services Inc. (LSI) (Stony Point, N.Y.), died November 29 of complications from cancer. He was 84. He began his career as the lighting director of NBC’s The Tonight Show with Steve Allen. In 1958, Gelman left the network to launch a lighting consulting firm. Within a few years, Gelman changed LSI’s focus to become a specialty manufacturer of accent and display lighting.
