Lululemon Opens New York Lab

Lululemon (Vancouver) opened its first Lab store in the U.S. yesterday. Located in New York’s NoHo area, the 2893-square-foot store operates as a hyper-local retail and design concept, with limited-edition, fashion-forward products that are not available at any other Lululemon or Lab location, reports Women’s Wear Daily.

Each Lab is intended to reflect the city where it s located, so the New York store will focus on functional and versatile pieces crafted for the commuter. Colorways will reflect a mostly black palette with some navy, nude, olive green, gray and ivory accents. Even the store’s shopping bags differ from other Labs.

The store’s design features a “laboratory” theme with oversized beakers behind the counter and raw concrete walls. Fixtures feature wood, blackened steel and brass materials.
