Macy’s Might Open on Thanksgiving Day

Macy’s Inc. (Cincinnati) is reportedly going to open its Herald Square store in New York for business on Thanksgiving Day.

“We have not yet announced any specific plans for the holiday season beyond holiday hiring, but expect to outline them in more detail beginning later this month,” a Macy’s spokeswoman said.

However, sources told Women’s Wear Daily that the retailer has already decided to open the flagship store, and perhaps others in the chain. at 8 p.m. on Thanksgiving – four hours earlier than it opened its stores last year.

Not only would this give Macy’s a jump on the Black Friday shopping weekend, it would also leverage all the shopper traffic that pours into Herald Square on Thanksgiving Day to witness the Macy’s parade.
