Macy’s (New York) has announced its plans to open four off-mall, small-format stores this fall. The locations will each feature Market by Macy’s – one will also feature Macy’s Backstage, marking the first time the two concepts have shared a space.
“As customer preferences and buying behaviors change, we continue to evolve to deliver the experience our customers expect,” Marc Mastronardi, Chief Stores Officer at Macy’s, says. “As exciting brand extensions, Market by Macy’s and Macy’s Backstage each offer unique shopping experiences – one celebrates discovery and convenience, while the other appeals to the customer who loves the thrill of the hunt for a great value.”
Locations that will open throughout this fall include one in St. Louis with a shopping experience “focused on discovery and convenience”; another – the first ever “dual” concept between Macy’s Backstage and Market by Macy’s – will open in Evergreen Park, Ill.; and another will open in the metro-Atlanta area, in Suwanee, Ga.
The Chesterfield store in St. Louis will replace a small-format Macy’s store that the company has decided to close. Mastronardi says, “We’re pleased to continue to serve the St. Louis area and look forward to welcoming our customers to Market by Macy’s … This announcement marks both our first replacement location and, separately, our first, off-mall dual location.”
The first Market by Macy’s debuted in 2020, and Macy’s Backstage launched in 2015.
