McDonald's Corp. (Oak Brook, Ill.) has named a licensee to develop the restaurant’s brand in Vietnam.
Henry Nguyen, founder of Good Day Hospitality and ceo of IDG Ventures, will lead the introduction that will begin with a location in Ho Chi Minh City early next year.
Nguyen worked part-time at a McDonald’s while studying in the U.S.
“I have been a big fan of McDonald's my whole life and have had so many wonderful experiences there, including one of my first jobs when I was a teenager,” he said. “I have dreamed of one day opening a McDonald's restaurant in my native country ever since my return to Vietnam more than a decade ago,”
McDonald’s has used the developmental license model, a form of franchising, for more than 30 years in more than 65 markets around the world.
