McDonald's (Oak Brook, Ill.) has opened a new technology-inspired restaurant called “Viva McDonald's” on the Las Vegas Strip.
The 8600-square-foot restaurant is the largest McDonald's restaurant in Nevada and, in keeping with Las Vegas style, is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The existing Las Vegas McDonald's, which served customers for 25 years, closed its doors this week to make way for Viva McDonald's, which is located on Las Vegas Boulevard.
The media-rich, technology-driven restaurant fits in with the lights and action of Vegas. On the exterior, four 9-foot-tall Daktronics LED video displays are directly above the front entrance while two LED video displays measuring 10-foot tall hang beneath the restaurant's golden arch marquee.
Inside, the restaurant features a modern decor along with a 14-screen media ring suspended in the two-story, open ceiling dining room. The media ring features content from McDonald's Channel content providers, including Discovery Communications, and displays McDonald's-branded short vignettes of popular Discovery Channel, TLC, Animal Planet and Science Channel programming. Guests can also enjoy wireless Internet, as well as a line of Viva McDonald's branded merchandise available for purchase.
“This is a destination location for McDonald's – a must see restaurant that people will talk about for years to come,” says Brian Unger, senior vp, McDonald's USA.
