Meijer's Latest Look

Meijer Inc.'s latest store layout is on display at four new stores it opened today.

The regional grocer's new “village-style” stores, with 190,000 square feet of selling space, opened in Bolingbrook, Ill.; McHenry, Ill.; Madison Heights, Mich.; and Columbus, Ohio.

“The idea is to give the customer a feeling of shopping in a village,” said Rob Jager, store director for the Bolingbrook location. “It's like having over 30 stores all in one store.”

Meijer is a family-owned and operated grocery and general merchandise retailer based in Grand Rapids, Mich. The company operates 156 stores in Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan and Ohio.
