The Neiman Marcus Group Inc. (Dallas) has announced the retirement of Gerald A. Sampson, president and coo of Neiman Marcus Stores, effective Dec. 31, 2002. No replacement has been named.

“Gerry has been an integral part of the growth and success that Neiman Marcus Stores has experienced during the nearly 10 years that he has served as its president and coo,” stated Burton Tansky, president and ceo of The Neiman Marcus Group. “In addition to Gerry's significant contribution to the Neiman Marcus organization, he has also been an effective leader in the Dallas community. We wish Gerry well in what I am sure will be a very active retirement.”

The company said it will announce the reassignment of Sampson's duties prior to his departure.

The company's retail holdings also include two Bergdorf Goodman stores in New York and about 10 clearance centers that sell marked-down merchandise.
