New COO at Steve Madden

Steven Madden Ltd. (Long Island City, N.Y.) has named Awadhesh Sinha as chief operating officer, effective July 1, 2005.

Richard Olicker, who has served as both president and coo since September 2001, will limit his activities to president.

Sinha, a director of the designer, wholesaler and marketer of fashion footwear company, will be responsible for improving operating efficiencies across all the company's divisions. He will report directly to chairman and ceo Jamieson Karson.

A 30-year apparel industry veteran, Sinha was most recently coo and cfo of Wear Me Apparel Corp. (New York), a company that designs, manufactures, and markets branded and non-branded children's clothing. He was previously coo and cfo for Salant Corp. (New York), a company that designs, manufactures, and markets men's clothing including brands such as Perry Ellis, Ocean Pacific, Axis,, and Tricots St. Raphael as well as its own private label brands.
