New Macy's for California Mall

Federated Department Stores (Cincinnati) has announced an agreement to open a new Macy's store in Antioch, Calif., east of San Francisco.

Construction on the two-story, 110,000-square-foot store at County East Mall will begin in summer 2003 and is slated to open in the fall 2004. The newer, smaller model will offer apparel and home merchandise, but not furniture.

“[This] is the third in a series of Macy's West stores developed specifically to meet the needs of smaller markets,” said Robert Mettler, chairman of Federated's Macy's West division (San Francisco).
