OfficeMax, the retail division of Boise Office Solutions (Itasca, Ill.), will open a new, smaller version of its superstore concept in downtown Chicago next week.
The 3000-square-foot OfficeMax Express on Washington Street across from the Daley Center will focus on serving the downtown business district with free, three-hour delivery service of the top 2000 office products ordered by Chicago companies. It will offer full-service copying, printing and binding services, business concierge service and free delivery with no minimum purchase via its OfficeMax Express Mini Cooper. Through partnerships with outlying OfficeMax stores, OfficeMax Express is also prepared to offer delivery of special orders of non-stock items within one day.
“We know that our business customers are very busy and want to spend as little time as possible shopping for office supplies,” said division president and ceo Chris Milliken. “With OfficeMax Express, we help our customers save time with our convenient downtown locations, free fast delivery and exceptional concierge service to help companies focus on the business of the day.”
The new Express store is the second in the country. The first one opened last December on North Michigan Avenue, also in Chicago. The Washington Street store will celebrate its grand opening on Monday, Aug. 9, 2004, with help from the “RubberBand Man” from OfficeMax’s Emmy-nominated national advertising campaign. The character will cut the ribbon on the new store and toss office supplies to passersby.
