New Seasons Plans for Expansion

New Seasons Market (Portland) has announced it plans to open two new grocery stores in Northern California over the next two years. Currently, the grocery chain operates one store in the state. The new locations will be in Emeryville, N.C., and Sunnyvale, N.C.

This is in addition to its plans to open its first store in the Seattle area next fall, as well as two new stores in Portland within the next year, reports The Oregonian.

The company plans to continue opening one to two stores each year in its three key markets of Portland, Washington’s Puget Sound and the Bay Area in California. As the company scouts locations for its new stores, it is looking for neighborhoods that are in the process of gentrification and will adapt each store’s design to the location’s specific needs.
