VM+SD presented its fourth annual New York Stores of the Year awards to Bergdorf Goodman and Fendi. The retailers were honored Tuesday night, December 9, at the annual PAVE gala in The Rainbow Room at Rockefeller Center.
VM+SD associate publisher Carole Winters and editor Steve Kaufman, along with ST Media Group president Tedd Swormstedt, were on hand to bestow the coveted crystal apple awards on the two stores, which best reflect the challenges in design and innovation represented in the New York market.
Bergdorf Goodman was chosen for the classic renovations of several selling floors within its fabled Fifth Avenue flagship, while Fendi won acclaim for its new jewel box of a store, also on Fifth Avenue. Both stores will be profiled in a cover story in the January 2006 issue of VM+SD.
StoreXpo, the annual visual merchandising and store design trade show at the heart of retail innovation, took place December 7 and 8 at the Javits Convention Center in New York. StoreXpo was presented by VM+SD and ST Media Group and co-located with the former P-O-P Show/New York, now renamed The Total Retail Experience (TREX). Fifteen participating showrooms in Manhattan were also open for the annual winter market event.
