Women are infatuated with their shoes. So Nine West has built on that infatuation in its remodeled Manhattan flagship on Fifth Avenue and 53rd Street.
“The design of our flagship store creates a shoe lover’s dream,” says Sheryl Bloom, president of fashion footwear, retail, for Nine West’s parent company, Jones Apparel Group. “Our design is meant to turn fashion footwear into artwork.”
Products are displayed throughout the 2185-square-foot space on illuminated white tables that appear to float on the concrete tile floors, giving the visual effect of a runway in the center of the store. The perimeter walls have become a stage of shoes on white risers and thick Plexiglas shelves. And the work of New York artist Franck Salzwedel is displayed in the store, further sealing the notion that “fashion is art, art is fashion and fashion is passion.”
