Nordstrom Inc. (Seattle) reported a 10 percent gain in preliminary sales for the four-week period ending April 29, 2006. Same-store sales increased 7.3 percent.

Preliminary first quarter sales increased 8 percent and same-store sales increased 5.4 percent.

The specialty retailer has been announced as this year's VM+SD/Peter Glen Retailer of the Year. Dave Lindsey, vp, store planning and architecture, will be on hand to accept the award and give a presentation detailing Nordstrom's history and outlining its future.
