Nordstrom Inc. (Seattle) has announced plans for three stores – a new unit, a relocation and a remodel and expansion.
The fashion specialty retailer has signed a letter of intent to open a new three-level, 122,000-square-foot store at Santa Monica (Calif.) Place with a scheduled opening of fall 2010.
It also announced plans to relocate its existing store at Los Cerritos Center (Cerritos, Calif.) and complete a remodel and expansion for its Broadway Plaza store in Walnut Creek, Calif.
Santa Monica Place – adjacent to the Third Street Promenade – is being transformed by The Macerich Co. from an enclosed shopping center to a three-level, open-air space with a rooftop dining deck, to re-open in fall 2009.
“Santa Monica is a wonderful community and an exciting retail environment where many of our customers visit, live and work,” said president of stores Erik Nordstrom. “We anticipate [the new Santa Monica Place] to be an exciting shopping experience.”
Nordstrom will relocate its Cerritos unit at Los Cerritos Center shopping center to a new location in the center with a new 138,000-square-foot, two-level store, taking place formerly occupied by Robinsons-May. It’s scheduled to open in spring 2010. The existing Nordstrom store at Los Cerritos Center will continue to serve customers until the new store opens. Nordstrom Cerritos originally opened in 1981.
And a two-phase project will add 32,000 square feet to the existing store plan of the Nordstrom store at Broadway Plaza in Walnut Creek, for a new total of 225,000 square feet. Upgrades will include new designer shops and open-sell cosmetic cases. The remodel will also include new flooring, updated dressing room finishes, new furniture and fixtures and new wall treatments. The remodel is scheduled for completion in 2010.
