Nordstrom Opens Only New Full-Line Store

Nordstrom Inc. (Seattle) has opened its only full-line store to be completed in 2013.

The 135,000-square-foot store at The Americana at Brand (Glendale, Calf.) was relocated from Glendale Galleria, where it had been since 1983.

As the retailer shifts its attention to its Nordstrom Rack division, its expansion into Canada and its debut in New York, another full-line store won’t open in the U.S. until the fall of 2014, in The Woodlands (Texas) Mall and St. Johns Town Center (Jacksonville, Fla.). Three new stores are slated for 2015: Ridgedale Center (Minnetonka, Minn.), Mayfair Mall (Wauwatosa, Wis.) and Del Amo Fashion Center (Torrance, Calif.).

The New York location, a seven-floor, 280,000-square-foot full-line store, will open near Columbus Circle in 2018.

At the same time, Nordstrom now has 127 Rack stores compared to 117 full-line stores, with 14 more Rack openings slated for the remainder of the fall. The Rack division is expected to have some 230 doors by 2016.
