Nordstrom Unveils New Flagship Design

Nordstrom (Seattle) has unveiled plans for the layout and design of its first full-line store in Manhattan, New York. Expected to open in 2019, the 363,000-square-foot store will encompass four properties along Broadway, three of which will be connected while the fourth will be located across the street, housing the Nordstrom Men’s store.

The space will include both new construction and historic buildings. The exterior of the new construction will include a modern glass façade designed by New York-based James Carpenter Design Associates. The historic buildings will be restored to retain their original design heritage, reports a press release.

Nordstrom’s Co-President Pete Nordstrom said, “We think the modern exterior glass design combined with the historical renovations honor both the past and future of Manhattan. We look forward to the day when we can open our doors and welcome customers.”
