Nordstrom Waiting to Decorate for Christmas

Nordstrom (Seattle) announced that, in addition to staying closed on Thanksgiving, it will not put up any Christmas decorations or displays until the day after Thanksgiving.

This is a tradition the retailer has had in place for years, but it was brought to light after a St. Louis store put a sign in the door addressing the decision to postpone decorations: “We won’t be decking our halls until Friday, Nov. 27. Why? Well, we just like the idea of celebrating one holiday at a time. From our family to yours, Happy Thanksgiving.”

The retailer’s Director of Business Public Relations, Dan Evans, told Women’s Wear Daily, “This is a long-standing tradition as far back as anyone can remember. We’re closed on Thanksgiving and Friday morning when the stores open, they’ll be decorated for the holidays.”
