Online Exec Goes Offline

Tom Bazzone, formerly president and coo of RedEnvelope (San Francisco), an online gift retailer, will become executive vp and coo of Restoration Hardware, the upscale Corte Madera, Calif.-based housewares retailer, effective July 16, 2001.

RedEnvelope's stylish, elegant web site is reminiscent – in some product offerings as well as its presumed target audience, choosy consumers with the ability to afford pricy goods – of the Restoration Hardware retail approach.

Before joining RedEnvelope in 1999, Bazzone held various positions at Williams-Sonoma Inc. (San Francisco), including vp of merchandise operations for the direct-to-customer division. He started his retail career at Grossman's (Stoughton, Mass.), then the nation's third-largest home improvement chain, where he spent 10 years in various merchandising and operations positions.
