Outlet Mall Planned at Former Candlestick Point

Home builder Lennar Corp. (Miami) and retail developer Macerich (Santa Monica, Calif.) are partnering to construct a major retail, entertainment and housing project at the site of the former stadium at Candlestick Point (San Francisco).

The retail portion will consist of a 500,000-square-foot, outdoor, pedestrian-friendly urban outlet mall. The retail development will serve as an anchor for the $1-billion project that will eventually include 6000 residential units as well as restaurants, movie theaters, a hotel and a performance venue.

Candlestick Point will feature below-ground parking, with retail and residences above, according to the San Francisco Gate. The retail center is set to open in 2017.
