Halco Lighting Technologies (Norcross, Ga.) has named Jerry Kalb director of business development. Kalb brings 30 years of experience in the lighting industry to his new role. He most recently served as a national sales manager for Toshiba.
The Carlson Group (Lombard, Ill.), a custom fixture company, has announced the addition of Mike Vander May, who will develop products for the company, and has 30 years of experience in engineering, design and new material research.
STORE OPENINGS
Nike Inc. (Beaverton, Ore.) plans to launch its newest outlet store in Lehi, Utah (just outside of Salt Lake City), at the Outlets at Traverse Mountain next month.
Yogurtland (Irvine, Calif.) opened its first self-serve frozen yogurt store in Pennsylvania at the Willow Grove Mall in Willow Grove, Pa. The company launched in 2006 and currently has 190 locations in the U.S., Guam and Mexico.
Apple Inc. (Cupertino, Calif.) opened a new store in Palo Alto, Calif. on October 27, offering T-shirts to the first 1000 customers, who began to line up the night before the opening, according to MacWorld.

Fixture Manufacturing Specialist Inc. (Greenville, Wis.), the manufacturing
arm of F.C. Dadson, has earned FSC certification from The Forest Stewardship
Council. The nonprofit council was established to promote the responsible management of the world’s forests.
The Planning and Visual Education Partnership (PAVE) has awarded $22,000 in financial assistance to 13 college students through its 2012 scholarship program. The students represent 11 schools throughout the U.S. in programs ranging from interior design and industrial design to visual communications.
