In celebration of its silver anniversary, convenience store operator Żabka (Poznań, Poland) has taken the wraps off a trio of new stores:
• Its 10,000th store, in its hometown of Poznań, features robot-prepared and served hot dogs;
• A hybrid store in Warsaw that combines a traditional outlet with a self-serve one;
• A drive-thru-only store in Piaseczno, where drivers shop from their cars.
Żabka also said it continues to invest in state-of-the-art logistics operations, including the recent opening of a fully automated distribution warehouse in Radzymin, near Warsaw.
Founded in 1998, the chain said it seeks to be a convenient alternative to the increasingly common large-format chains in its home country. Its outlets typically include cafes, ATMs, postal desks and/or lottery ticket outlets.
