Prada SpA (Milan) has opened a new freestanding store in Osaka, the third-largest city in Japan.

As reported in Women’s Wear Daily, the five-level, 16,145-square-foot store was designed by architect Roberto Baciocchi (Arezzo, Italy), who has been collaborating with Prade since 1982.

“The outer storefront,” reports WWD, “is designed to pay tribute to French-Venezuelan artist Carlos Cruz-Diez, with backlit panels of gold-colored aluminum and polished steel. Inside the store, a series of openings in the ceiling works to connect the different levels and leads to a skylight in the rooftop.

“Each floor is designed with a different atmosphere, and materials used in the store’s interior include polished steel and crystal fixtures, green fabric wall coverings, ostrich leather sofas and black-and-white checkered marble floors.”
