Publix Launches College Concept

Publix Super Markets Inc. (Lakeland, Fla.) announced the opening of its first location to be fully-integrated into a college campus. The store will open with a smaller than average format on the campus of the University of South Florida.

Retailing Today reports this location is not only the first Publix store on a university campus, but it will also be the first supermarket to integrate into a campus. The store will be located in the campus’ new Student Housing Village to provide a convenient shopping location to residential students.

Publix also revealed that it will conduct a minimum of two job fairs a year on the campus offering students employment and internship opportunities. The store will operate in a 45,000-square-foot space.
