Publix Super Markets Inc. (Lakeland, Fla.) has opened a new prototype store in Orlando that offers a cooking school, shopping and delivery services and a café.

“We're going to be all things to all people, hopefully,” a Publix spokesman told The Orlando Sentinel. “Everyone has different tastes and wants, and we hope to touch all of those.”

The new 59,000-square-foot store, about 30 percent larger than the retailer’s average store, is in one of Orlando’s most affluent neighborhoods, a mile away from an existing Whole Foods Market and the same distance from a Trader Joe's that is scheduled to open soon. A Fresh Market store is also nearby, says The Sentinel, and an older Publix a half mile away will remain open.
