RadioShack on Auction Block?

RadioShack Corp. (Fort Worth, Texas) has reportedly received bids including several from private-equity firms, including BlackStone Group, reports The New York Post.

The electronics retailer had hired Goldman Sachs to explore strategic alternatives, including a possible sale. An initial round of bids was completed last week, according to The Post, with Blackstone emerging as a leading participant. Possible rival bidders include Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co., Bain Capital and TPG.

“RadioShack is an appealing opportunity for a (private-equity) firm because it has a ton of cash, and a mobile business that is growing quickly,” said one banking source, according to The Post.
