Ralph Lauren Eyes Brazil

Ralph Lauren Corp. (New York) plans to open stores in Brazil by 2014 and continue to rollout stores worldwide – revealed during a conference call to Wall Street to announce Ralph Lauren’s 2012 fourth-quarter and full-year results – according to Women’s Wear Daily. The brand is also considering the addition of more women’s apparel in its stores.

Christopher Peterson, cfo of Ralph Lauren, spoke during the conference call about the brand’s intention to roll out more Polo branded locations, which primarily sell men’s accessories and apparel, WWD reports. The current location is in East Hampton, N.Y., with a second opening at the Mall at Short Hills (N.J.) in September. A 35,000-square-foot store located on Fifth Avenue in New York, which is set to become a Polo flagship, will open around fall 2014. Plans thus far suggest that the ground floor will be dedicated to men’s apparel while the second floor will be for women and the third floor for children, WWD reports.

Roger Farah, chairman and ceo, said during the call that there is interest in expanding the women’s line of apparel, though it was unclear if he specifically meant expanding the current Blue Label collection or creating a new line, according to WWD.
