REI to Open in Washington, D.C.

REI (Seattle) will open its fifth flagship store in Washington, D.C., this October.

The 51,000-square-foot store located in Washington, D.C.’s NoMa neighborhood will feature a third more product than a typical REI, and will offer classes, tutorials and events in addition to retail offerings, according to the Washington Business Journal.

Leading up to the store’s opening, REI is hosting 100 days of outdoor events called “United Outside” as a nod to Washington, D.C.’s political climate.

REI also has a flagship location in New York, making the Washington, D.C., store the retailer’s second flagship on the East Coast.
