Retailers, Restaurants Make TIME100 Most Influential Companies 2023

Which businesses are doing the most to shape the future? To answer that question, TIME assembled the TIME100 Most Influential Companies 2023.

To create that roster, the publication’s editors sought nominations from across a variety of economic sectors, including retail and restaurants, by polling its global network of contributors and correspondents, as well as outside experts. Then each of the nominees were evaluated on several key factors, including impact, innovation, ambition and success.

“The result is a diverse group of businesses helping chart an essential path forward,” the magazine reports.

Below are the retailers and restaurants that made the 100 (and a short phrase the publication used to describe its most notable attribute), broken down into four different categories.

Leaders:

  • Chipotle – Social media maven
  • Patagonia – investing in earth

Disruptors:

  • Hoka – fitness phenomenon

Innovators:

  • Crocs – Mass appeal
  • North Face – Circular clothing
  • Taco Bell – Feeding fans

Titans:

  • Apple – Shortening the supply chain
  • CVS Health – Health care giant
  • LVMH – King of luxury

Note: No retailers or restaurants were included in the Pioneers part of the list.
