Rite Aid Corp. (Camp Hill, Pa.) will promote coo John Standley to ceo in June. Current chairman and ceo Mary Sammons will step down from the day-to-day operations at that time, but will continue as chairman through June 2012. Sammons became ceo in 2003.

In 2008, Standley returned to the struggling drug store chain after serving as ceo of Pathmark supermarket chain. He had previously worked with the company as financial chief, starting in 1999.
